Make children’s education a priority -Parents told

Ntribuoho (Ash), Jan 16, GNA – Mr. Sampson Adu-Poku, assembly member for Ntribuoho, has called on parents to make their children’s education a priority and help them to succeed. He said by so doing it would help the children to find their proper positions in society when they grow up.

Mr Adu-Poku was speaking at the basic school Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) first meeting of the term at Ntribuoho in the Kwabre district of Ashanti at the weekend.

He said it was unfortunate that some parents spent huge sums of money on social activities, especially funerals at the expense of their children’s education.

The meeting elected new executive to replace the old one whose term of office ended last year.

Madam Georgina Achiaa, a Traditional Birth Attendant, was elected as the new chairperson with Mr Charles Owusu and Madam Constance Antwiwaa as vice-chairpersons.

Mr Akwasi Adu-Amankwa and Mr James Atta, both teachers, were elected as secretaries while Madam Akosua Addai and Miss Afua Saa were elected as treasurers.

Madam Achiaa in a short address called for co-operation and support from both the teachers and parents for a successful tenure of office.

She urged mothers to immunise their children against the killer diseases, attend ante-natal clinics and breastfeed their children to make them more healthy.
