Majority leader blasts Opuni over Asawasi town roads

The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has taken a swipe at the former Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Dr Stephen Opuni for diverting funds for cocoa roads for the construction of Asawasi town roads.

He questions why funds meant for the construction of roads in cocoa growing areas to enable the purchase and carting of the cash crop from the farm gates could be diverted to a constituency which cannot produce a single bag of cocoa.

All major roads in the Asawasi Constituency, the sole stronghold of the opposition NDC in the Kumasi Metropolis saw major facelifts, with those in Sawaba, Asokore Mampong, Parkoso and other towns in the constituency asphalted in the lead up to the 2016 General Elections when the NDC was in power, funds for which Hon. Kyei

Mensah authoritatively reveals were for cocoa roads. Speaking on the state of roads in the Suame Constituency and the entire Kumasi metropolis on Angel FM today, the Majority Leader admitted his constituency has the worst roads in the metropolis, blaming the previous government of doing little to repair them.

He said efforts are been made by this current NPP government to fix all the road challenges in the city, urging residents who bear the brunt of the deplorable roads on a daily basis to remain patient and continue to support the government.
