Maintain your camaraderie in the public glare, politicians urged

Politicians of both divide in the country have been urged to show to the public, the same camaraderie that exists amongst them, both in the limelight and out of it.

Nii Amarh Somponu II, Nii Shipi of Tema, who said this during an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said it was unfortunate that some politicians sought to portray themselves as enemies when they appear on political platforms and media programmes, whereas they are on very friendly terms when out of the public glare.

Nii Somponu said this does not reflect their true characters adding that such hypocrisy exhibited by such politicians tend to create confusion and misunderstanding among their followers who equally see their opponents as enemies.

He appealed to politicians to discuss issues with tact and care devoid of insults and acrimony for in doing so, would their followers see their opponents, as one people with different ideologies.

Nii Somponu said it was very important that Ghanaians value and protect the current peace they are enjoying as it would be disheartening to plunge the country into any form of political violence mainly due to the perceived behaviours of some politicians.

He also called on media practitioners to carefully assess the content of their messages before publicizing them, since failure on their part to handle issues maturely could equally inflame passions.
