Nii Annang Adjor I, the Acting Chief of Ashaiman, has urged residents of the area to maintain the prevailing peace in the community to ensure development.
He said the negative perception people hold of Ashaiman as “a no-man’s land and a no-go area” has now changed and discipline is reigning, with people going about their activities peacefully.
Nii Adjor gave the advice when the people of Ashaiman undertook a health walk, organised by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Federation of Ashaiman Youth Clubs, as part of the Ashaiman 2015 Homowo festival.
The Homowo festival, literary meaning hooting at hunger, is celebrated by Ga-Adamge’s annually.
The four-hour walk was through the principal streets of Ashaiman.
Naa Amui I, Queenmother of Ashaiman said exercising the body was good for mankind and urged the people to regularly exercise to look healthy at all times, adding that, the walk would be organised every two month.
Nene Tetteh Amponsah, the sub-chief of the people of Shai resident in Ashaiman, asked the people to recognise and honour the traditional authorities in the area.
The Trinity Community Hospital at Ashaiman used the occasion to offer free hepatitis ‘B’ screening for the people.
