Mahama’s vetting to be based on merit – NDC

A Deputy General Secretary for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Lawson says the party remains resolute in its resolve to vet President John Mahama ahead of its primaries set for November 7.

According to the NDC scribe, the President will be vetted based on his accomplishment.

Some party members had earlier kicked against any moves to vet the President, insisting that once he was not being contested, there was no need for him to be taken through a vetting process.

Mr. George Boateng, who publicly announced his intentions to contest the president, came under a lot of flak from party faithful and national executives including the general secretary who called him a lunatic.

But speaking to Kasapa FM’s Maame Broni, George Lawson noted that the party respects the rules and regulations governing it and as such will vet the president accordingly, based on merit.

“We are a law abiding party, and so we wouldn’t want to violate our own laws. We’ll have to take the President through vetting just as all other party candidates are”.
