The National Youth Organizer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Abu Ramadan, has descended heavily on the Mahama-led administration describing it as a “vampire government”.
He said government has over the past five years been “insensitive” to the plight of Ghanaians who voted for a better Ghana.
“This vampire government is gradually leading Ghana into an abyss; the economy has gone haywire and there is no hope in sight,” he stressed.
Abu Ramadan was reacting to the recent tariff increment by the Public Regulatory Utilities Commission (PURC).
The 78.9 percent and 52 percent increment in electricity and water tariffs respectively have spark public uproar nationwide.
Organized labour led by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday October 8 gave government and PURC a 10-day ultimatum to reduce it by one-third.
But PURC maintains that nothing can be done to reduce the recent tariff hikes.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Abu Ramadan urged the TUC to embark on the nationwide strike if government fails to heed their call.
He blamed government for the recent tariff hikes because “it prevented PURC from increasing tariffs just to win power”.
The PNC National Youth Organizer intimated that government as the sole shareholder in the utility companies can review the prices if it wishes.
“Ghanaians are paying for the “reckless expenditure” of the Mahama-led administration. They spent all the tax payers’ monies just to win the 2012 elections and are now sucking the blood of Ghanaians dry”.
Abu Ramadan bemoaned the loud silence of Ghanaians and urge them to put more pressure on government to ensure that the right things are done.
