Mahama’s silence on Bankswitch saga strange – Akoto Osei

A former Finance Minister Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei has questioned President Mahama’s silence on the Bankswitch judgment debt saga.

The IT service provider has been awarded a judgment debt of 197 million dollars over government’s abrogation of its contract.

Government has come under fire for asking Destination Inspection Companies (DICs) to contribute towards the payment of the debt.

But Dr. Osei in an interview with Starr News said President Mahama must intervene in the ongoing saga.

“If I was the President, I would say look stop all this nonsense and let us do the right thing…even if we didn’t like the agreement we should have gone through the right process to abrogate the contract.

“There is more to come and this is why I say that if people don’t want to do the right thing what will come up will be more than this,” Dr. Osei said.

Meanwhile, a financial consultant, Kudzo Akpabey has made a U-turn on his earlier claim that former finance minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor must be prosecuted for his role in the abrogation of the Bankswitch contract.

He had earlier said on Peace FM that Dr. Duffuor and the Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh must be prosecuted for their role in the Bankswitch saga but speaking on Starr News, Akpabey said he withdraws his earlier comment.
