President John Dramani Mahama on Friday advised members of the Ghana Armed Forces to exhibit a high sense of professionalism by remaining loyal and dedicated to their responsibilities.
He said such professionalism could help them to ward off non-state individuals that may want to cause mayhem to innocent citizens in the country and beyond.
President Mahama gave this advice when he addressed the graduation ceremony of 106 officers at the Ghana Military Academy Training School at Teshie, Accra.
The Officers are made up of 54 Regular Career Course, 52 Short Service Commission and Special duties course.
The programme was also attended by Ministers of State, top ranking Military Officers, families and personnel from other security services.
President Mahama said sophisticated arms and weapons are creeping into wrong hands. He therefore urged them to step up their vigilance and surveillance all over the country -to subdue any acts of violence and lawlessness that may erupt.
He said Ghana had- over the years -conducted herself professionally in all the peacekeeping countries they had visited, and urged them to maintain that record by working hard for the salvation of other nationals.
In spite of the economic challenges the country is currently facing, President Mahama promised that government would continue to play its role of providing the necessary machinery and logistics to enhance their performance.
The President commended the graduands for their endurance, and expressed hope that such endurance would be replicated in their performance on the field.
On Ebola, President Mahama commended the United Nations and ECOWAS member countries for their contributions towards the upkeep of victims in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Rear Admiral E.A Bonsu, Commandant of the Military Academy Training School in a message to the Graduating cadets advised the graduands to uphold the constitution of Ghana by defending the country and her territories throughout the country.
He appealed to them to strive to contribute towards the sustenance of the peace, security and stability required for the socio-economic development and prosperity of the country.
Rear Admiral Bonsu urged them to make good use of the expertise and experience they garnered during their training- to solve all challenges that might confront them in the course of their duties.
The Commandant called on them to remain loyal, hardworking and dedicated to their duties by upholding the code of ethics, traditions and professionalism of the Ghana Armed Forces.
