President John Mahama has urged Ghanaians to always count their blessings and be grateful to God for his grace.
“As a people and a country, we must admit that the Lord has been gracious onto us and we must ask ourselves this question that I ask myself everyday…’Why are we so blessed? Why am I so blessed?’
“And indeed if there is any secret of my success, it is because I always ask God: ‘why am I so blessed?’ In a favour that he does for me, I ask God:‘Why me?’ And in asking myself that question I count each blessing that he showers upon me,” President Mahama said when he joined Bishop Charles Agyin Asare of the Perez Chapel at Dzorwulu to worship on December 31st 2014 to cross over into the New Year.
In his view, it is only by counting one’s blessings and being grateful to God about them that more blessings will be bestowed on them.
“We are the lucky ones to see 2015. There are people on the stroke of midnight, God took their lives and so why are we so blessed? We must always ask ourselves,” he said.
At the same service, President Mahama confessed to the congregation that: “I’m here to worship with you tonight because I want to testify that I believe I’m nothing without God and I know and believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
President Mahama, who was at the church service with his wife and some Government officials also said he hoped a prophecy by Perez’s Founding Bishop, Charles Agyin Asare that 2015 will be a year of fruitfulness, comes to pass for the country.
“As President of Ghana, I claim it on behalf of the nation,” President Mahama said.
He added that he was excited to have joined the Church to worship God and cross over into 2015.
