Mahama should hand over to Amissah-Arthur if… – NPP MP

Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Ahwianso-Bekwai constituency, Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, has called on President John Mahama to cede his office to his Vice, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, if he is overwhelmed by the responsibilities given him by the Ghanaian citizenry.

Responding to the President’s call on his critics not to engage in radio talk to “vent their frustration”, the Parliamentarian advised the President to be tolerant of opposing views regarding his administration. Addressing a congregation at the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra on Sunday, the President implored his critics to help him fix the economy and stop ranting on radio.

He was of the view that “the quest to build a desirous, prosperous and better Ghana is the responsibility” of all Ghanaians including his critics. But speaking on Oman FM, Mr. Aboagye-Gyedu expressed his displeasure with President Mahama’s comments and so admonished him to note that “he’s no longer in opposition. If you are an opposition leader, then it’s your duty to address the government and that’s what we’re doing. But if that’s what stings him, then I think the seat is too hot for him. He cannot sit on it. He should get up and let’s search for a different person. I think his Vice might be much resourceful.”

“If you’re a President and we don’t criticize you…how would you identify those who are embezzling funds? Those who are committing crimes and those in government who seek the downfall of the government?” he further questioned.
