Mahama predicts NDC will win Ken Agyapong’s seat

President John Dramani Mahama says he has a premonition that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will annex the Assin Central seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said that inkling gives him the confidence that come December 7, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will lose the seat.

In the last two elections, the NDC represented by Alex Antwi-Boasiako has lost to the incumbent firebrand Member of Parliament; in 2012 by a little over 3, 000 votes.

The ruling party will be represented this year by Dr Kofi Blankson, who is the current Municipal Chief Executive for Assin North.

“There is something happening in Assin Central that gives me confidence that[come] 7th December, there will be surprises here,” President Mahama told a rally on Monday, November 28 on the first day of his two-day tour of the Central Region.

He asked the chiefs and people of Assin Manso to give him a second mandate as he is qualified under the constitution for that.

According to him, the constitution gives every president two terms and all presidents – except John Atta Mills who died in office – under the Fourth Republic have been given two terms. He, therefore, asked the people to vote massively for him on December 7.
