Mahama, Nana Addo and others submit nomination forms

With a day left before the deadline for the filing of nomination forms for the various aspiring presidential candidates, the office of the Electoral Commission got busy as several candidates thronged the premises to make their submissions.

First on the list to submit his form was the Presidential aspirant of the opposition NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo. The early bird, they say, catches the worm. Time will tell if Akufo-Addo’s timing of submission will aid him in winning the December polls as the man himself believes.

Not long after the submission of nomination forms by the main opposition party, the governing NDC’s aspirant President John Mahama had his forms submitted by his right-hand man, Vice President Amissah-Arthur.

Flag bearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings also submitted her presidential nomination forms to the Electoral Commission to enable her contest the 2016 elections.

Other candidates including Akua Donkor, Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) and Kofi Akpaloo flag bearer of the Independent People’s Party (IPP) submitted their presidential nomination forms to the Electoral Commission on Thursday, 29 September.

The rest who have also done same are Agyenim Boateng of the United Front Party (UFP and Dr Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC).

So far, 23 nominees including seven independent aspirants have picked forms to run for president.

They are to start filing their nominations between today and Friday, September 30.
