Mahama must stop talking and fight corruption – GII

Enough of the talk Mr. President, let’s see some action. That is the message coming from anti-corruption body, Ghana Integrity Initiative.

President Mahama has hinted of new measures to be announced soon to check corruption in the country.

But Programmes Coordinator at the GII, Mary Adda, says the existing institutions and laws on corruption in the country are enough to fight the canker.

President Mahama has come under fire from members of his own government for his approach to tackling the series of corruption allegations plaguing his administration.

In an interview with XYZ NEWS, Mary Adda said it is about time the president ceased talking about his commitment to fighting corruption and actually fought it to demonstrate that commitment.

“If government wants to fight corruption, then it knows what to do. Government must not continue to tell Ghanaians that they are committed to fighting corruption.

“So the Ghana Integrity Initiative wants to put on record that we want to see action. There are laws, there are legal frameworks and there are institutions which are mandated to fight corruption. Government must allow those institutions to do their work”.
