Mahama must start cleaning drains for us to follow – Sekou

The deplorable sanitation situation in the capital city and across the country is such a crisis that President John Mahama must start leading the way in cleaning the drains, political activist Dr Sekou Nkrumah has suggested.

He told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu that: “The filth that has engulfed us is a crisis.”

“The president should step out from that Flagstaff House and start cleaning our dirty gutters and we’ll follow,” he proposed.

According to him, it is important the president leads by example.

“He should start. He should show the way and we’ll all do it. It is a crisis in Ghana,” Dr Nkrumah stressed.

The son of Ghana’s first President said he was not asking for a symbolic move by the president in cleaning the filth but rather a pragmatic move that would demonstrate that he is ready to lead by example.

“It’s a simple way. The president can start that initiative and say that he wants every Ghanaian to dedicate the weekend to cleaning houses.”
