Mahama must apologize for crippling economy – PPP

National Youth Organizer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah has called on President Mahama to offer an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for being insincere about the status of Ghana’s economy.

The outspoken politician said by the economic indicators from energy, network systems among others makes it is impossible for businesses to thrive even with a million dollar investment.

He chided President Mahama for ruining the economy and yet goes round deceiving Ghanaians that, the economy is booming and that only Ghanaians without skills complain of hardship.

President John Dramani Mahama in an interview with Volta Star Radio on his regional ‘Accounting To the People Tour’ in the Volta region said Ghanaians who are not feeling the prosperity in the economy may be lacking the skills needed to take advantage of the opportunities his government has created.

“…The thing is, if you are not feeling it in your pocket, it doesn’t mean that the President is going to come from place to place distributing money to everybody. The economy will provide the opportunities but it’s for the people to take advantage,” the President explained during an interview with Ho-based Volta Star FM, Thursday.

But responding to President Mahama’s statement, Divine Nkrumah posited that Ghanaians are not feeling the so-called economic opportunities created by the Mahama led administration.

He noted that, many young graduates are rooming the streets of Accra and other regions selling and taking over taxi business because there are no sustainable jobs for these skillful graduates.

Divine Nkrumah said, existing businesses are laying off workers because they are not making any returns as compared to the investment they are making into their businesses.

He indicated that, for the first time in the history of this country, Ghanaians are paying outrageous utility tariffs higher than their monthly rent; a situation he described as unfortunate and shows clearly the incompetency of the Mahama led administration.

Divine Nkrumah said it will be prudent for President Mahama to do the honourable thing by apologizing to Ghanaians for his insincerity and deceit.
