Mahama Means Business, 120-Day Milestones Prove Commitment to Change – Goosie Tanoh

Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Mr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh, has praised President John Dramani Mahama’s early achievements in office, describing them as a powerful signal of renewed purpose and seriousness in tackling Ghana’s most pressing challenges.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s ‘The Point of View’ with Bernard Avle, Mr. Tanoh expressed strong confidence in the President’s leadership, pointing to the fulfilment of key promises within his first 120 days as proof of his commitment to restoring trust in government.

“I think that the social contract, the 120-day contract, and the fact that he has achieved all those milestones show a new, renewed determination and purpose,” Tanoh said. “He means business. He also means to promote, protect and expand business.”

The Presidential Advisor further explained that the much-talked-about 24-Hour Economy initiative goes far beyond longer working hours. According to him, it represents a broader shift in how government institutions engage with citizens and businesses, creating an enabling environment for sustainable growth and inclusive development.

“The reset is also about the state and the way the state relates to the citizenry, relates to businesses and other institutions,” he said. “Without an efficient and friendly state, investors will run away.”

Tanoh also highlighted the administration’s anti-corruption efforts, including the introduction of a new Code of Conduct for public officials, describing it as a clear sign of political will to build transparency and accountability.

“Some of the anti-corruption things he has done, such as the Code of Conduct, are to lead the way that in this dispensation we mean business, and we will do it,” he added.

The 24-Hour Economy policy, one of the government’s flagship programmes, aims to generate jobs, stimulate productivity, and modernize the economy by encouraging continuous operations in key sectors like healthcare, transport, retail, and manufacturing.
