Mahama lynching: Let us assist Police with investigation – MP

The Member of Parliament for MP for Upper Denkyira West Mr. Nsowa Gyan has disputed claims that the Assemblyman who is alleged to have incited the lynching and death of late Captain Maxwell Mahama are false.

According To him, the Assemblyman is cooperating with police with investigations.

The Assemblyman in the Centre of the ghastly lynching and burning William Baa reported himself to the police at Diaso, yesterday [Wednesday].

The MP described the incident as barbaric and unfortunate. Earlier, five others had been arrested in connection to the murder.

Speaking to the media, the MP said the police are closing in on the matter.

He commended the military for exercising restraint after the incident. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

The MP further called the public to furnish the police with any valuable information to assist them with investigation.

Late Captain Mahama was with the 5 Infantry Battalion (5BN) at Burma Camp, Accra but on detachment duties at Denkyira Boase where he was lynched and burnt to death in an alleged case of mistaken identity.

Late Captain Mahama who is the commander of the area military detachment, according to his subordinates, was seen jogging along the main road and as he stopped to ask some women for directions, the women saw a pistol on him.
