Mahama-led administration luckiest ever – Bature

Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj Newspaper, has stated that the Mahama-led administration is the luckiest ever in the history of Ghana.

His assertion stems from the fact that the government has been able to remove all subsidies in a subtle manner that has not caused agitations amongst Ghanaians.

Adding that, the Mahama Administration has managed to replace the subsidies with “unprecedented number of taxes but no one seems to be complaining.”

In the view of Alhaji Bature, the Economic Management Team that is meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help bail Ghana out her economic challenges would have an easy time negotiating on behalf of Ghanaians because Ghana is already practicing all the stringent IMF conditionalities, which is the removal of subsidies and the imposition of taxes.

President Mahama made it known a few days ago that financial wizkid, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey will be leading the impending discussion with the IMF scheduled to start today, 16th September 2014.

The IMF staff that will be in the country for the next few days would be in discussions with fiscal unit of the Ministry of Finance and those in charge of monetary policy at the Bank of Ghana (BoG) with leadership and direction provided by Prof Kwesi Botchwey and supported by the beleaguered BoG Governor, Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah.
