Mahama holds discussions with President of Brazil

President John Mahama on Thursday held brief discussions with the Federative Republic of Brazil, H.E. Dilma Rousseff.

This was shortly after her swearing in for a second four-year term on January 01, 2015.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Heads of State from various African & Latin American countries including Guinea Bissau, Portugal, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, Costa Rica among others.

Other delegations including the United States of America were led by their Vice President, while others were represented by Prime Ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers.

Ghana and Brazil has over the last few years strengthened their bilateral and economic cooperation leading to the financing and execution of a number of key infrastructure projects by Brazil and Brazilian companies.

These include the ongoing works on the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange in Accra, a new international airport in Tamale in the Northern Region, new hangar for the Ghana Air Force and the soon to start new road interchange at Kasoa in the Central Region.

Ghana is also expecting a number of agricultural equipment including tractors for enhanced mechanised services and farming.

According to the Flagstaff House, President Mahama’s attendance and participation in the inaugural ceremonies of President Rousseff is a demonstration of the new relations and a quest to further improve collaboration between the two countries.
