Mahama has surrounded himself with babies – Sekou

Dr. Sekou Nkrumah says President John Mahama has surrounded himself with immature people who could cause his “political death”.

“…Those presidential staffers, those around [the president], I think sometimes they seem to be not very mature and sometimes they also take it to a totally different level that is totally unnecessary”, Dr. Nkrumah told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu.

According to him, the conduct, behaviour and utterances of the presidential staffers and advisors led to the death of President John Mills and could also destroy President Mahama’s political career terminally, “if things do not change”.

Dr. Nkrumah’s warning and observation comes on the heels of a free-for-all media spat between former Majority Leader Alban Bagbin and some presidential staffers in the past few days.

The exchanges started after Bagbin publicly criticised President Mahama’s handling of corruption allegations in his administration.

He also wondered why his efforts to get access to the president to offer him private counsel about how to handle the corruption canker in the past five months have constantly been frustrated.

Bagbin has since come under criticism from some of the people around the president, including Presidential Staffer Stan Dogbe, Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh, Lands and Natural Resources Minister Inusa Fuseini as well as Deputy Information and Media Relations Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s first President, however says a little show of maturity by the people around the President could make a whole difference.
