Mahama donates sugar to Muslims

President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday donated 50 bags each of sugar and rice to the Muslim community in the Upper West Region to support them carry-out their month-long Ramadan fasting.

Presenting the items to Muslims leaders in Wa on behalf of President Mahama, Mr. Bede Zieden, the outgoing Upper West Region Minister said, the President respects all faiths and religions in Ghana.

He said the items were the President’s bit to support needy Muslims undergoing spiritual cleansing during the period, considered as one of the pillars in the Islamic calendar.

Mr. Ziedeng urged the Muslim leaders to endeavour to share the items to Muslims across the region and not only to those in Wa town.

Alhaji Baba Dawud, a representative of the Upper West Regional Chief Imam, who received the items on behalf of the Muslim Community, thanked President Mahama for his kind gesture, especially his concern towards the welfare of Muslims in Ghana.

He called on Muslims to continue praying for peace in Ghana and also pray to Allah to bless President Mahama with good health and wisdom to lead Ghana to prosperity and progress.
