Mahama dismisses UN appointment claims

Former President Mahama has refuted claims that he has been appointed by the UN to co-chair a session on Sustainable Development Goals as information circulating on social media suggests.

In a post on his facebook page some hours back, the Mr. Mahama stated that contrary to information circulating on social media, the appointment was made in January 2016 when he was still President of the country.

“Folks! I have no new UN appointment. The Co-chair of SDG advocacy group appointment was last year January when I was President, he said.

Information making rounds on social media Sunday January 22 suggested that the John Mahama had been appointed by the United Nations to co-chair a session on the Sustainable Development goals.

The outgone President however has come out to refute the claims, indicating that the statement being sent round is an old one and not current as many are suggesting.

“What many are sharing are the UN statement from January 2016 announcing the appointment & my statements at the 2016 Davos Forum”
