Mahama commissions six-unit classroom block for Ada SHS

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned an ultra-modern six-unit classroom block for the Ada Senior High School.

The classroom block with two staff common rooms and nine toilet facilities was provided by Groupe Ideal.

At a short ceremony in Ada, the Paramount Chief, the queen mother, the headmaster, and members of the community gathered at the forecourt of the new school building to officially receive the keys to the classroom.

Speaking at the commissioning of the school, President of Groupe Ideal Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani said development of education and health should not be left with only the government.

He said individuals and corporate organizations must complement the efforts of government to bring development to the people. He noted that the initiative is aimed at providing good infrastructure for quality teaching and learning in the community.

“One of our objectives for undertaking this project is to see Ghana advance on the Millennium Development Goals now the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, the goal two on Achieving Universal Education,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of education in improving living standards and reducing poverty.

“Education is key in nation building and as a brand we want to contribute in shaping the lives of these students who are the future leaders .We are therefore providing both the students and teachers with a conducive learning environment so they can concentrate on their studies,” he said.

The Acting Headmaster of the school, Samuel Nakoji, who doubles as the Ada District Education Director of Ghana Education Service, lauded the gesture and pledged to ensure the new building is well maintained for the benefit of the students and the community at large.
