Mahama: Cape Coast stadium ready by Aug 2015

President John Mahma says he is confident the Cape Coast Sports stadium will be ready by August next year.

As part of his working visit to the Central Region at the weekend, president Mahama toured and inspected the 15,000-capacity facility, which is being funded through a US$30-million grant by the Chinese government.

“…I am fulfilled that the new sporting edifice will be ready by August next year for use”, Mahama said on his official Facebook page.

“The volume of work done since my last inspection a few months ago, is appreciable, and I am informed that 49% of the works has been completed”, he said.

The Cape Coast stadium is expected to have eight runway tracks, a natural grass football field, three parking lots, two outdoor basketball courts, one outdoor handball court, a boxing training court, a press conference hall and a media room.

Additionally, it will have: a medical room, an audience emergency room, two referee rooms, three management rooms, three facility storages, two security rooms, two VIP lobby halls, four athletic lounges, 22 guest rooms with LED electronic display, audio amplification system and a number of track and field sports devices.

The president also announced that a new modern market will soon be constructed at Kotokuraba.

“We are also ready to relocate our sisters and mothers to the temporary market stalls for work to start on the construction of a new and modern market at Kotokuraba”.
