Mahama begins 4-day official state visit to Norway

President John Dramani Mahama begins a 4-day Official Visit to the Kingdom of Norway on Tuesday. The visit, which is at the invitation of Prime Minister Erna Solberg will begin with a bilateral meeting and joint press conference by the two leaders.

His Majesty the King of Norway, King Harald V will also hold private meetings with President Mahama and host his delegation to a luncheon in the Royal Palace.

Mr. Mahama, who is the Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government has been in Denmark and the United Kingdom for similar Official Visits. In Denmark, he held discussions with the Danish Prime Minister, the Crown Prince and Danish business leaders.

His visit to the United Kingdom was crowned with a private audience with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II after various speaking engagements at the House of Commons, Chatham House and investment roundtable discussions with the Royal African Society and British business leaders.

While in Norway, Mr. Mahama will also be the guest of the President of the Storting (Norwegian Parliament), hold bilateral and investment promotion meetings with Norwegian government officials and business executives and visit the Norwegian city of Stavanger where he will tour some petroleum related facilities, and review the operations of the Norway Petroleum Directorate and the Petroleum Safety Authority.

The President will deliver the keynote address at this year’s Norwegian African Business Association Summit on Mapping the African Infrastructure Landscape, where he will be showcasing Ghana’s success story and the need for the international business community to support and encourage that development.

Before leaving Norway, President Mahama will meet and interact with the Ghanaian community in Oslo.
