Madina records 65 accidents in August

The Madina Divisional MTTU Police Command recorded 65 motor traffic accidents with six deaths during the month of August 2014.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Madina MTTU Police Divisional Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Michael Asiedu, said 44 private vehicles with 38 commercial vehicles and eleven motorbikes were involved in the accident during the month of August this year.

He said six people died, with 21 persons sustaining very serious injuries and 38 minor injuries, adding that, 12 persons were knocked down.

Commander Michael Asiedu said during the month of July, 63 accidents were recorded within his jurisdiction involving 39 private vehicles, 54 commercial vehicles and six motorbikes.

Four persons were killed during the month of July, while 31 persons sustained serious injuries with 28 minor injuries, he said, and added that 20 persons were knocked down.

The Madina MTTU Divisional Station Officer, Inspector Bukari Seidu appealed to drivers to be careful while driving.

He also asked drivers not to make unnecessary overtakings on our roads.

He reminded the commercial drivers to rest when they were tired on their journeys.

He warned drivers who drink while driving to put a stop to it, since this could impair their judgment on the road and could contribute to fatal accidents.
