Madina-Abokobi NPP elects Candidate

MADINA, July 24, GNA – The Madina-Abokobi constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), one of the newly created constituencies has elected Mr. James Amoah as its candidate to contest the 2004 parliamentary elections.

Mr. Amoah who is a businessman was elected in an election organized by the District Electoral Officer, Mr. Prosper Dudi, at Madina on Saturday.

He had 32 votes followed by Mr. Mumuni Sulemana, a lecturer of the University of Ghana, Legon who obtained 24 votes.

Mr. Samuel O. Darko, the incumbent MP had 16 votes, Mr. Abdulai Zakari, Assemblyman for Madina, 12 while Mr. Agyeman Boateng had 2 votes.

Speaking to the GNA, Mr. Amoah said he was going to work hard with the rank and file of the party to ensure victory. Present at the election were the Chairman of the Madina-Abokobi Constituency, Mr. Kofi Asante and representatives from the various polling stations.
