Yaw Akoto, a 35-year-old mentally deranged man has allegedly butchered to death a 14-year-old girl at Akyem Asafo in the East Akyem municipality of the Eastern region.
The severed body of the 14-year-old girl, Ama Dosia, was found partially decomposing in the bush after a week of search by her parents.
The deceased was sent by the father on January 26, 2016 to fetch water but never returned.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital by the Police.
The Deputy Eastern regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Sgt. Gideon Boateng who confirmed the incident to Starr News explained that the police received information that the body of the deceased had been located in a nearby bush which serves as a sleeping place for the suspect.
Sgt. Boateng said the suspect upon seeing the Police took to his heels. He added that the Police are currently hunting for him.
Meanwhile, a resident in the community, Yaw Benjamin in an interview with Starr News said the suspect is known for terrorising children in the area.
