Lottery Association Appeals For Reduction In Tax

Tema, (Greater Accra) 22 Sept.,

The Tema district lotto writers association has petitioned the government through parliament to review the sales tax on lotteries from 15 to five per cent. In a statement signed by Nana Freduah, Chairman and Mr. Kwadwo Peprah, Secretary, the association noted that since the introduction of the tax last month, their sales have dropped substantially. The association said lotteries have given employment to a large number of people engaged in writing them for commission adding that if the sales tax is not rpt not reduced, ”it will throw us out of work”.
