Lordina’s cervical cancer project gets support

The Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), is to support Ghana’s First Lady Lordina Mahama’s Cervical Cancer Advocacy programme on prevention of cervical cancer and HIV with $ 30,000 for the next three months.

Mr Lucien Kouassi Kouakou, the Africa Regional Director of IPPF, announced this when he paid a day’s visit to Ghana to interact with volunteers and staff of the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) and to also hold discussions with the Africa Regional Chairperson of IPPF, Mr Kwaku Brenu.

Mr Kuoakou commended the PPAG staff and the volunteers for their selfless efforts in ensuring that reproductive health development of the people remain crucial in the growth efforts of the country.

Dr Joseph Amuzu, the Executive Director of PPAG, in welcoming him to Ghana commended IPPF for the continued support it had provided to PPAG over the years in areas of funding, technical and capacity building assistance.

He emphasised PPAG’s commitment to the mission of IPPF towards improving the reproductive health of men, women and young people in Ghana.
