Local government Inspector cautions revenue collectors

Nkawie (Ash), March 3, GNA- Mr Isaac Amo-Mensah, Principal Local Government Inspector for the Atwima District, has cautioned revenue collectors against falsifying receipt books.

He warned that he would not countenance the falsification of accounts and asked lazy and unscrupulous revenue collectors who were not prepared to give of their best to give way to those who were prepared to work honestly and diligently.

Mr Amo-Mensah was addressing revenue collectors of the Atwima District Assembly at a durbar held at Nkawie on Tuesday to discuss issues affecting revenue collection how to improve it. He asked chiefs, area councils and unit committees to support and co-operate with the revenue collectors for effective revenue mobilisation to enable the assembly to generate enough revenue to fund development projects.

Mrs Victoria Afum, the Atwima District Finance Officer, advised them to desist from acts of indiscipline, drunkenness and other activities that tended to give them a bag image.

She commended the district revenue task force of the Finance and Administration Sub-Committee of the assembly for its immense assistance in raising the revenue of the assembly.

Mr Kwarteng Amaning Asiedu, a Senior Revenue Superintendent, advised the collectors not to resist transfers since it is not a punishment but rather to ensure efficiency.
