Local government Elections deferred in Volta Region

Ho, Dec 27, GNA-The nation wide Local Government elections, to elect district assembly and unit committee members, slated for Tuesday December 28, this year, has been deferred to Wednesday December 29 in the Volta Region.

Mr Emmanuel Danso, Ho Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday said the rescheduling was due to the late arrival of ballot papers. He explained that printing presses were expected to deliver the ballot papers for the region slightly behind schedule, probably because of their low capacities, which challenged their ability to work within the limited time. As a result of the postponement, the EC Volta Regional Office is mobilizing all staff to use all means of communication to convey the message to the people.

The Information Service Department (ISD) van fitted with the public address system arrived to begin the announcements as the GNA left the premises of the EC Dispatches were also being sent to FM radio stations in the region.
