Load shedding not over – ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says the load management exercise is not over yet. The off-peak load shedding exercise which started last week ended on Tuesday.

It followed the shortage of gas which resulted in a power generation deficit of more than 200 megawatts.

Public Relations Officer of the ECG, William Boateng, in an interview with XYZ News stated that though the deficit has reduced, the company will still be shedding power for some time.

“The load shedding is not over. As I speak we are doing a day’s load shedding of about 140 megawatts”, he noted.

He added that “apart from the load shedding, anytime there is a rainstorm, there is also the localised problem where some electrical wires come down thereby compounding the power outage situation”.
