Little difference between “hard teeth” babies & “old evil dwarfs”

Ex-President Rawlings has described his short speech at the Launch of the NDC’s manifesto as a simple one and expects Ghanaians to understand what he meant.

“They are quite simple, it’s not a complex thing, anybody should understand what I said”, he stated in an interview with Metro TV’s Samuel Agyeman after the Launch of the party’s Manifesto on Thursday at Ho in the Volta Region.

“Mr. President, fellow Ghanaians it is said that we should not throw out the baby with the bath water, but what do we do when some of the babies in the tub are babies with hard teeth, biting and spewing some very horrible invectives? Should they not be lowered out with the dirty water? After all one bad nut is all it takes to spoil the taste in your mouth”- JJ Rawlings, August 30, 2012.

These were the words of the former President a month ago at the NDC’s Special Delegates Conference in Kumasi.

In response to differentiate between the statement above and the recent one made in Ho yesterday, ex-president stated; “They have a few differences”.

Taking his turn to address party members gathered at the Jubilee Park in Ho for the launch of the party’s Manifesto or Policy Statement for the next four years, the former president said President Mahama needs to kick out some ‘negative people around him’.

“I believe the President is beginning to see the action of these same old evil dwarfs. The president needs help and we must pray to God to give him the strength and courage to put his foot down and do what he needs to do….”, he stated.

“They are quite few of them, they’ve been around for too long and I’m glad that he’s beginning to recognize them”, he told Metro TV.

Prior to the event the ex-president’s office had expressed “grave” reservations over the manner the NDC Founder was invited to meetings and events involving the party.

The statement, signed by Captain H. Afeku- Amenyo (Rtd) of the Ghana Navy, who is the Director, Office of Former President, described as “impudent”, the “deliberate use of the former President’s name to advertise, such events when he has either no invitation or confirmed his attendance at such events” and urged party officials to “crosscheck His Excellency’s receipt and acceptance of such invitations before the public is misled into believing that he is attending such events”.
