Little Angels Trust, a Non-Governmental Organization, on Saturday donated food items to the Children’s Block of Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.
The items included Christmas toys, assorted drinks, biscuits and toffees.
The organization also organized a health walk dubbed: “Love Walk” to create awareness for childhood cancer and show love to children who are terminally ill.
The walk witnessed the presence of the Police to ensure orderliness while silver medals were given to members who participated in the walk
Mrs Dame Lavinia Enim, Founder of the organization, said the gesture was part of the organization’s way of contributing to the children since they are the seed for the generations ahead.
She said the donation had been an annual affair saying it was as a result of her deep passion for helping children who were terminally ill and to help provide them with an avenue to refocus and have positive future.
Mrs Enim said the organization had established a body called ‘Angelhood’ which comprised a team of dedicated, committed and passionate volunteers offering their skills, expertise and experiences for the common goal of responding to the needs of sick children.
She said the ultimate goal of Little Angel Trust was to have a home where special children with their families could find comfort, support, love and the care they needed at no cost to them.
Mrs Amui said for the past six years of its existence, Little Angle Trust had been able to support day-care centres and the children’s unit of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
She said the Trust had adopted and renovated the third floor of the Children’s Oncology Cancer Unit of Korle-Bu, where most of the children needed extra love, care and support.
Dr Ebenezer Badoe, Consultant Pediatrician at the University of Ghana Medical School, received the items on behalf of the Hospital and thanked the organization for the gesture.
He said the gesture shows that the organization has the children at heart and appealed to other corporate bodies and philanthropists to donate in support of the children.
