Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister and the delegation of Ghana discuss Bilateral Cooperation

On 29 December in Vilnius, Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgiryt? Liauškien? met with Minister of State of Ghana Joseph Afotey Agbo and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting focused on opportunities for the development of political and economic relations between Lithuania and Ghana, prospects for cooperation between the European Union and African countries. The participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on the situation in the West African region.

At the meeting, the Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister encouraged Ghana to accredit an Ambassador to Lithuania and informed the participants about the foreign ministers’ conference of the Community of Democracies that is due in Vilnius in 2011. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana is also invited to take part in it.

Vice-Minister A.Skaisgiryt? Liauškien? invited the interlocutors to develop mutually beneficial relations in trade and business, energy, transport, agriculture, tourism and other fields. The delegation of Ghana was presented a draft of an investment promotion and protection agreement.

Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Ghana were established on 28 May 1992.
