List of 25 Unaccredited Nursing Schools in Ghana

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana has released a list of 25 unaccredited nursing and midwifery institutions running Nurse Assistant (HAC), Nursing or Midwifery programmes in the country.

The Greater Accra Region had the highest number of unaccredited health institutions, including Kings College of Health and Business Studies, Mendskrom; Ripples Healthcare, Korle-Gonno; Peniel School of Allied Health, Health Management Institute, Dansoman; Golden Sunbeam International College of Science and Technology, School of Health and Allied Sciences, Dodowa; Greenhills School of Health Sciences, near Malam market.

The Brong-Ahafo Region also has the REA College of Health, Sunyani; SAARS Academy, Bechem; Mount Olive Health Care Institute, Techiman Municipality; Itellis Healthcare Institute, Techiman; Monreve Healthcare Institute, Dormaa Ahenkro, not being accredited to run such programmes.

The Ashanti Region had the third highest number of unaccredited nursing training school, namely Newman College of Nursing, Atwima Techiman, near Kwadaso, Boakye Dankwa Memorial Healthcare Training Institute, Dikyemso-Kumasi, and Afia Kobi Nursing Training College, Moro market, Tafo Nhyiaeso.

In the Eastern Region, Dasein Practical School of Nursing (HAC) – Akim-Oda, Ensign University College of Public Health, St Augustine’s Nursing School, Tei Nkwanta, have not been accredited.

The Central International College Of Health Studies, Ankaful Junction Cape Coast,
Christian Healthcare, Asikuma, and St Andrew’s Nursing School, Assin Fosu in the Central Region have not been accredited by the council.

The Northern Region had Mon Reve Healthcare/Nursing Training School, Tamale, Mon Reve Healthcare Institute, Wa, Upper West Region and New Crystal Healthcare, Takoradi, Premier Healthcare, Takoradi, Western Region are also not accredited.

There were, however, no unaccredited schools in the Upper East and Volta Regions.

The council indicated that members of the public who enroll into any of these institutions for nursing or midwifery related programmes do so at their own risk.

“Institutions currently pursuing professional accreditation by the council are advised not to advertise or admit students until they have completed the process,” the registrar stated.
