Lil Win premieres ‘Captain Ibrahim Traore’ movie to packed audience in Kumasi

Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, premiered his latest film, Captain Ibrahim Traore, to a full house at the SG Mall in Kumasi on Saturday, August 2, drawing widespread praise and diplomatic recognition.

The action-packed film, which honours Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traore, was directed by Jackson K. Bentum and sees Lil Win in the lead role portraying the young revolutionary leader during a period of national upheaval. The movie, already a trending topic on social media, received a warm reception from fans who filled the cinema to capacity.

Ahead of the screening, Lil Win led a colourful movie float through the streets of Kumasi, drawing crowds and building excitement. The float also doubled as a tribute to highlife legend Daddy Lumba, whose recent passing cast a solemn mood over the city.

“It is truly an honour to see fans gathered here to watch the movie. I am really encouraged by the kind gesture. I want to thank all fans who have supported me—I’m motivated to give my best to the movie industry,” Lil Win told reporters after the premiere.

The event attracted key dignitaries including Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ghana Journalists Association President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, and actress Vivian Jill, all of whom lauded the film’s bold concept and Lil Win’s performance.

One of the night’s biggest highlights came when Burkina Faso’s Ambassador to Ghana, David Kabre, presented an award to Lil Win on behalf of President Traore. The honour recognised the film’s cultural and diplomatic value in portraying African leadership and resilience.

The next screening of Captain Ibrahim Traore is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, at the Eusbett Cinema in Sunyani, where another large turnout is expected.
