Likpe Abrani outdoors a new Chief

Likpe Abrani (V/R), May 29, GNA – The kingmakers of Likpe- Abrani in the Hohoe Municipal area last Wednesday organised a colourful durbar to outdoor a new chief. Nana Borkey Akototse V, 66, known in private life as Allen Mantey, a retired police officer, succeeded his late uncle Nana Akototse the IV, who died a year ago.

Nana Akototse V also becomes the Gyasehene of the traditional area. Nana Akototse said he had accepted the challenge to rule the community in good faith and expressed the hope that the people would support him to develop the area.

He said quality education and good sanitation practices were crucial to the development of the area and he would ensure that every child of school going age was enrolled in school. Mr. John Peter Amewu, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, commended the chiefs and people of the Likpe Traditional Area for the peaceful installation of chiefs in the area.

“While other traditional areas find it difficult to install chiefs to replace dead or abdicated ones the traditional area has been able to install chiefs at Likpe Kukurantumi and Abrani without any squabble”, he said.

He said the government had awarded the Hohoe junction-Lolobi-Likpe-Ayoma road on contract.

He said the first phase, which started from Abrani-Kukurantumi to Ayoma, would soon be tarred.

Mr. Amewu said his administration was training pupil nurses under the National Youth and Employment Programme (NYEP) to man the local clinic.

He appealed to the people to help make the December election a peaceful one.
