Lightning Kills Woman

Bolgatanga, Sept 4, An unidentified woman was killed instantly when lightning struck at the Bolgatanga new market yesterday evening during a rainstorm. The body has been deposited at the Bolgatanga central hospital mortuary. Three others, Madam Sala, with an eight-month-old pregnancy and Ms Akurugu Akurupoka are in critical conditions while Miss Adisa Abukari, 21, who was slightly injured, is in a stable condition. Dr. William Gudu, Medical Officer on duty at the emergency ward, told the GNA that Madam Sala has started contracting and may abort but Miss Akurupoka is likely to regain her composure and that Miss Abukari was being discharged. Miss Abukari said they were struck while sheltering in stalls at the market during the rainstorm.
