Lightning kills 58-year-old woman in Tatale

Tatale, July 6, GNA – A 58-year-old woman Baliba Bekime was struck by lightning and killed last Friday at Tatale in the Zabzugu/Tatale District of the Northern Region. The deceased who was a mother of three girls and two boys was struck by the lightning in her room at 7:30 pm but her daughter who was with her escaped unhurt. The deceased returned from farm that evening and was waiting for her daughter to finish preparing soup for them to eat when the incident occurred.

In another development on the same Friday at about 8 pm the lightning hit one of the low electric tension poles and it caught fire. A landlord Amanga Sanga of Kuyuli whose house is opposite the pole had a shock when he was in his room during the downpour. His neighbours rushed to the house and put off his meter to prevent

the rest of the family from being affected by the electic current. The attention of the Volta River Authority was drawn to put off the lights to save lives and property in Kuyuli, a suburb of Tatale
