Lightening strikes two students at St. James Seminary

Abesim (B/A), June 22, GNA – Tragedy hit the St. James Seminary/Senior High School at Abesim, near Sunyani when lightening killed two final year students during a heavy downpour on Tuesday night.

Five other final year students, who were with the deceased on their way to their dormitories after night studies, sustained injuries and were treated and discharged at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani. The dead were Isaac Osei Kuffour and Shadrach Adofo, both 19, and Business students.

The injured were Vincent Botwe, Benjamin Ankamah Gyau, Rowland Boadi Gyan, Ernest Baah and Goodenough Agyapong. Reve Father Hubert Asante-Kumi, the Vice Rector of the school, told the Ghana News Agency that the incident occurred at about 2030 hours in front of the school’s main chapel. He said because of the tragedy the students had been asked to go on mid-term holiday and report on Wednesday June 29. When the GNA went to the campus on Wednesday at 0730 hours, virtually all the students and staff were sad and depressed as most of them shed tears.

Consequently none of the students even entered the dining hall to take breakfast.
