Light fishing still ongoing at Shama Distict

Assorku-Essaman (W/R), Dec. 4, GNA – Mr Benjamin Dadzie, the Best Canoe Fisherman in the Shama District, on Friday express grief over continued negative fishing practices in the Shama District. He said despite the ban on light fishing, DDT, dynamites and pair trawling, such negative fishing practices were still going on in the district fishing waters.

Mr Dadzie said this in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Assorku-Essaman during the District Farmers’ Day celebration Mr Dadzie called on the Ghana Navy to intensify surveillance to arrest such unscrupulous persons, who were bent on destroying marine life. For his prize, he was given a sewing machine, two cutlasses, wax print and four fishing ropes. 4 Dec. 10
