Libyans to help establish Arabic Dept at UEW

Winneba (C/R), May 26, GNA – The Al Tahadi University of Libya is to assist the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to establish an Arabic Department to train teachers to teach in Islamic schools in the country.
Mr Ahmad Alhaj Hamad, Dean of Arts Education of the University disclosed this when he led a three-man delegation to sign an exchange program with the University of Education, Winneba on Thursday. He said a library to be stocked with Arabic books would be established at the Department to enhance the teaching and learning of the program.
Mr. Ahmad Alhaj Hamad said the University would provide qualified staff to handle the program.
The program, which would start next academic year, will begin with five students under scholarship from Al Tahadi University. According to Mr Alhaj Hamad the number of students would increase periodically.
He said considering the increasing students population in the Arabic schools in Ghana, there was the need to train more teachers to handle the situation.
