Awutu (C/R), April 11, GNA – Mr Kofi Ahiabor, presiding over the Awutu District Magistrate’s Court on Thursday sentenced Mohammed Kamara, a Liberian refugee, to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing. Adolf Armah and Jimmy Freeman both unemployed, were charged with abetment of crime and fined 4,000 Ghana cedis each. In default, they will face one year imprisonment in hard labour. Police Inspector Seth Anyan said on January 17, 2008, Kamara, alias Victor, also unemployed, broke into the room of one Mr John Smith Baidoo and stole his personal belongings valued at 600 Ghana cedis and a cash of 400 Ghana cedis.
Inspector Anyan said, Mr Baidoo had gone for a funeral and returned at about 0300 hours only to find that his room had been broken into. He said Kamara sent the items to Armah and Freeman for safe keeping adding that when Armah and Freeman were arrested, they confessed to having the items in their possession.
