Liberia is inexperienced to partner Ghana to combat terrorism – Expert

Ghana and Liberia have reached consensus to work closely together to combat terrorism and other security challenges within the sub-region.

According to President Mahama the two countries will share intelligence and collaborate with their respective security agencies to achieve this goal.

The president said this during a joint press briefing in Accra when the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf paid a one day working visit , to Ghana. But a security expert Ibrahim Irbard says is an inexperienced country to partner Ghana in that regard.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the expert posited that the country has only experienced civil war and lack any experience on counter terrorism hence it makes it strange for Ghana to partner the country to combat terrorism.

He explained that there is a difference between civil war and terrorism therefore in finding a country to assist Ghana to fight terrorism, we need not to partner Liberia. Ibrahim Irbard added, the dynamics and measures in combating terrorism keeps changing hence Ghana needs to partner a country with worth of experience in combating it.

The choice of choosing Liberia in combating terror attacks he indicated maybe because President is having a ”classified Information” that experts may not be aware of.

In his view, Ghana could have chosen Mali, Chad, and Mauritania as partners in combating terrorism.
