LGWU ignorant of labour issues – CLOGSSAG

The Northern Regional Executive Council of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has accused the Local Government Workers’ Union (LGWU) of being “ignorant of what is happening in the labour front”.

The Council said the recent statement by LGWU to the effect that “members should wait for guidelines to be developed before the implementation of payment of premium”, was unfortunate.

Mr Ali Anafo, Regional Secretary of CLOGSAG who addressed a press conference on behalf of the Council in Tamale on Monday said payment of premium to CLOGSAG members had lingered on for far too long and must be resolved now.

“What we are asking for is what guidelines informed the payment of premium to other public sector institutions when they were migrated onto the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS)?” Mr Anafo asked.

Mr Anafo, urged members of CLOGSAG to remain “calm, focused, committed and comply with the directives of the leadership to continue with the nationwide strike… until the battle is won”.

CLOGSAG has been on strike since last week over issues of payment of premium as part of the implementation of the SSSS.
