Let’s work together – PM urges MP and DCE

Juaso (Ash), May 7, GNA – Nana Yaw Osei, Presiding Member for Asante Akim South District Assembly, has said he would work in close collaboration with the new District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. De-graft Forkuo, and the Member of Parliament, Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu. He said teamwork between the DCE and the MP was crucial to the accelerated development of the district and promised to facilitate a cordial relationship between them in the interest of development. Mr. Osei said this at his swearing-in ahead of the confirmation of the President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive scheduled for Friday.

He said underdevelopment and stagnation of projects had been the bane of the district where DCEs and MPs had had acrimonious relationship, and called on stakeholders to help address the problem. The PM appealed to workers of the assembly to commit themselves to the development agenda of the assembly and assured them that their grievances would be addressed. He appealed to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Kofi Opoku Manu, to bridge the development gap between Asante Akim North and Asante Akim South.

Mr Osei said the pace of development in the district over the years left much to be desired and stressed the need for the DCE and the MP to work in collaboration to reverse the trend. 07 May 09
