Let’s strive to build a prosperous nation – Bishop

Kumasi, Jan. 3, GNA – The Right Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has exhorted Ghanaians to strive hard and help to build a united and prosperous nation.

He stressed the need for people to stop brooding over failures and complaints about injustices suffered in the past and think about good things they could do to support the transformation of the nation. In a message on the first Sunday of the year, he said Ghanaians have to know that we are all one people with a common destiny. “Let us live in peace and not in pieces. Every Ghanaian is important and we need everybody”, the Bishop stressed. He called on politicians to stop using words that would inflame passion adding that their words should edify and encourage others. The Right Reverend Dr Sarfo said the nation needs the fear of God, stability and unity to build its young democracy and economic growth. “This is what we must all aim at instead of divisive tendencies, which could retard its progress”,

He said the oil find is a blessing from God and that government or the opposition should not play politics with it. The Bishop commended all the planning committees of the Kumasi Diocese of the church for the contributions they made towards the activities of the church in 2009.

These included, the 10th year of consecration of he the Right reverend Dr Sarfo as the third Bishop and the 36th anniversary of the creation and inauguration of the Diocese.
