Let’s step up education on health benefits of chocolate

Kumasi, Feb 15, GNA – The Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) has said it was important to step up public education on the health benefits of chocolate t= o help increase local consumption of the product. Mr Ekow Sampson, the Ashanti Regional Manager, said the Health Ministry and the media should do more to help Ghanaians to appreciate its health value. Mr Sampson was interacting with the children of the Kumasi Cheshire Home as part of activities to mark Valentine Day. He said the good done to the human body by chocolate was enormous and that as the incidence of cardiovascular disease-related deaths continue to soar it was important the people are encouraged to consume chocolate on regular basis. Mr Sampson said a small intake of a smaller bar of black chocolate everyday would help to keep the heart and cardiovascular system functioning well. Prof Osman Bah, West Africa Regional Programmes Manager of Leonard Cheshire Disability, an NGO, appealed to the government to give serious attention to disability issues to help make things better for the disabled. Mr Owusu Adjei, Administrator of the Home, called for support for the vocational training of the inmates.
